But what if you can't afford to restore the entire tooth? The solution is to place a sleeping implant.   We've got a nicely healed ridge 2 months post extraction. Mr Blu Tack can't afford to pay $4000 for complete restoration, so he requests for a sleeping implant. First and foremost, a hole is prepared in the bone.
  The implant is positioned over the osteotomy. The actual placement is paused so you can see what the implant looks like. The next picture shows the implant fully seated in Mr Blu Tack's bone.
  Finally, a healing abutment is placed over the implant. The main function of the healing abutment is to prevent the gums from growing over the implant. With the healing abutment in place, the implant can remain there indefinitely. Mr Blu Tack "pays" only $1250 using his Medisave and gets peace of mind. His bone is preserved. For the sleeping implant, Mr Blu Tack pays no cash. The final picture shows the implant restored with a crown. That happens a couple of year later when Mr Blu Tack gets a big bonus. |
